Green Cleaning can also be described as using products manufactured, packaged and distributed in an Eco-friendly manner. This includes products that are biodegradable. The United States Environmental Protective Agency (EPA) labels products that are environmentally friendly.

Cleaning agents are substances used to remove dirt, soap scum and body oil including dust, stain, bad smells, and clutter on surfaces. Purposes of cleaning agents include health, beauty, removing offensive odors and avoiding the spread of dirt. Some cleaning agents can kill bacteria. Others, called degreasers, contain organic solvents to help dissolve oils and fats.
